How Do You Make A Halloween Scavenger Hunt?
As I said before, scavenger hunts are a great low prep activity. To have a successful game you just need to consider a few things:
The Clues
List of Things To Find
Hiding Places
Prizes
Halloween Scavenger Hunt Clues– Clues are optional, but using rhyming clues can make the game more fun! If you’re playing this game with younger children who are not yet reading, it might be helpful to print out pictures of what you’re looking for.
These are super cute Halloween clue cards with a spin!
List of Things To Find– Here’s where my free Halloween Scavenger Hunt Printable comes in! (Don’t forget to sign up for it below!) This is a Halloween themed list of things to find. It’s full of things that shouldn’t be too hard to find at Halloween party, or while you’re outside in the neighborhood.
Hiding Places-If you’re doing this Halloween scavenger hunt indoors, you will need to hide these things around your home. This is probably the option that requires the most prep and you may not have all these things on hand.
If you’re planning a Halloween scavenger hunt with toddlers or younger children, then walking around the neighborhood, a community Halloween fair, trunk or treat event might suffice.
If you are doing this with older kids, you might choose harder hiding places. You might even make the search timed.
Prizes-Will you be giving out spooky prizes for the kid who finds the most things on the Halloween Scavenger Hunt? Or maybe everyone who participated gets a prize. It’s up to you!
Here are some prize ideas besides candy (that they will probably have plenty of!):
Puzzles
Stickers
Pencils/Markers/Crayons
Coloring Books
Cups/Water bottles
Trophies
Playdough
Bubbles
Kites
Sidewalk chalk
Happy Haunting! 🙂
