15 Easy Mom Hacks to Get More Done

Are you feeling overwhelmed and unproductive?

As a mom, it’s easy to feel busy. Taking care of home, kids and work is no simple task. You’re constantly on the go and your to do list is never ending.

Since we could all use a little more time, these are the best free time and sanity saving mom hacks that you can start right away!

    Mom Hacks for Easier Living

Life hacks are all the rage right now and for good enough reason. Hacks promise to make your life easier and saving time with simple steps and shortcuts. Why shouldn’t motherhood have a hack or two? Well don’t keep wishing for the easy button, try some of these things today.

    1. Lay clothing out the day before.

Remember how excited you were to pick out your first day of school outfit? Apply that outfit planning to your daily schedule. Put together several outfits in ziplock bags and let your kids pick their own outfit of the day. Just like that, they match and are appropriately dressed! You win because you minimized outfit struggles while still letting them retain some choices and independence.

    2. Presort laundry

Speaking of clothing, instead of throwing dirty clothes into one pile, at least throw them into sorted piles. Using a laundry sorter, you could make different baskets for bedding, underwear, clothing, etc. Sort to your heart’s content as you go!

    3. Workout at home for free

We all know that exercise is important for our health and wellbeing, but finding the time to go to a gym can be a hassle. Use free Youtube videos to do home workouts. Get the kids involved and have a dance party.

    4. Have your packages picked up

Most moms are no stranger to online shopping. From everything to clothes to household essentials, everything you need can be ordered with the click of a button. What happens when you ordered something you need to return? Did you know you can schedule a package pickup from USPS? Very convenient and easy for moms to do!

    5. Double line your garbage can

Putting two trash bags in your trash can can help in two ways. When it’s time to take out the full garbage bag, a new bag is already in there! Or, if your currently full trash bag happens to leak or burst, the second liner is there for a safety net. Mess and crisis averted!

    6. Plan out your day

Yes, planning your day can help you be more productive and stop wasting time. This can be a simple or complicated as you want to make it. You can go full out with a planner or just jot down a simple to do list on a post it. Your time, your call mama.

Pin it down and get it done!

    7. Have a Car Stash Basket

I’m sure it’s been a while since you just hopped in the car and drove off. Remember those days? Having a fully stocked car basket won’t bring those days back BUT will help you be better prepared when you’re out and about. Things you’ll want to put in your car basket: diapers, wipes, change of clothes, extra pair of shoes, snacks, bottled water. Lifesaver, just in case you forget something in your diaper bag.

    8. Mail delivery service for prescriptions

If you or any of your family members take prescriptions or medications regularly, consider switching over to mail delivery. Save yourself a trip to the pharmacy and get a month or two supply at the same time!

    9. Assign tasks and chores to family members

Delegation might be the ultimate mom hack. There’s really no need for you to be supermom and do it ALL.  Give your kids age appropriate chores, ask your partner or spouse for help with dinner and cleaning. Family life and running a household smoothly is really a team effort.

    10. Put your Instant Pot or slow cooker to use

If you have a crock pot or instant pot, please check out all of the simple and easy delicious recipes available on Pinterest. It doesn’t need to winter or cold to break out your crock pot. Easy dinner is always a good idea year around.

    11. Make food in batches

Speaking of dinner ideas, if you can double your recipe, please do! You’re doing the labor once and getting the benefits twice! The secret to taking the blah factor out of leftovers is to freeze your extras. Then a week later or even much later, pull it out of the freezer and warm it up. At that point, it’s been a while since you had the original meal and it’s like new!

    12. Stash clutter in bins

This is a quick fix for putting away clutter and tidying up. Until you’re ready for a deep cleaning and decluttering, make use of any storage bins and baskets you have. I keep a storage basket in the living room like this and at the end of the night, I just sweep up any toys laying around the living room into this basket.

    13. Order groceries online

Grocery pick up is one of the BEST time and money saving mom hacks. Shopping for groceries online is brilliant. You get what you need, schedule a time to pick it up and the store associate loads it into your car. You’re not wandering around wasting time in the aisles, your kids don’t beg for any extras and it’s all bagged and loaded for you. Seriously, what could be better?

    14. Use natural DIY cleaners

Do you know that you can use vinegar in a pinch to clean your home? The uses for vinegar cleaners are endless! Don’t worry next time you’re out of Ms. Meyers!

    15. Use bath time to your advantage

If your little one is having a rough day and you need a mom time out or reset? Let your kids take a bath. Water can entertain and calm your fussy child.

Let me know if you use any mom hacks to get more done in your daily life. Share the mom tips and tricks!
